RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

THIS DAY. (Before T. W. Parker, Esq., R.M. CATTLE STEALING.

Charles Inder, butcher, of Kartigi, was charged with having, on or about the 20th August last, stolen and driven away one heifer of the value of L(i, the property of Messrs. &>skery and ReM, Kartigi. Mr. (Y.Meagher appeared for the accused. On the application of Sub-Inspector Smith the accused was remanded to Hampden on Wednesday next. ALLKGKD BKEACH OF LICENSING ACT. Daniel U'Rourke was charged on the information of Sub-Inspector Smith with neglecting to keep sniiicient sitting-rooms and bed-rooms in his licensed house at Ngapara ready and fit for public accommodation, and to be provided with a sufficient supply of wholesome provender for horses. Mr. O'Mei'gher appeared for the defendant.

Sub-Tnspcetor Smith stated that lie had laid the information in consequence of a eonqdaiut with reference to the want of acconnnod tion. He had himself visited the house, and found it in a very dirty state, the bedrooms and their fittings being exceedingly filthy, only one of the bedrooms being ja saoly clean. Constable Welch deposed that he had visited the house recently, aiul had found it much cleaner than lie had ever before seen it, though it Mas somewhat untidy. His Worshio said ho would not inflict a fine in the present case, but he would caution the defendant that if a t-imilar complaint came before him avrain, lie would have to deal with it very el ll'eivntly. At the same time he must say that he considered the complaint well-grounded. .Christian against whom a charge of having stolen a number of articles trom John Moore was heard yesterday, was brought up for his Worship's decision, and was sentenced to six days' hn|>ri.->oiuneiit.
