PRESENTATION TO MR J. G. FLETT
0 An interesting little event took place last evening, when the Sunday School teachers of St. Paul's Church met for the purpose of making a presentation to Mr. J. G. Fiett, the late superintendent of the school, who is leaving Oainaru. After tea and the singing of several hymns, the following address was presented to Mr. FJett : To J. G. Flett, Esq. We, the und-Tsigned Sabbath School Teachers of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Oamaru, New Zealand, in view of your departure from our midst, desire to express our iriendship and esteem for you as a man and a Christian, and our hiidi appreciation of the valuable services you have rendered as Superintendent of the ■ chool for the last ten years. You have gained the affection both of teachers and scholars by your Christian tact, your geniality oE temper and consistent life, and the efficiency and prosperity of the school have been greatly promoted through the Divine blessing by your earnest and judicious management. We desire also to express our regard for your esteemed part ner, Mrs. Flett. 01 r appreciation of her services as a Sabbath School teacher, and our recognition of t!ic warm interest she has always taken in all endeavours to promote the spiritual welfa e of the young. While deeply regretti- g your departure, and the loss we shall th* reby sustain, we desire to bow with submission to the will of Him who appoints the bounds of our habitation. Our prayers are that, the Lord may bless you and your family, guide you in peace and safety over the mighty ocean to your native land, and bless your labours wherever God in H.s providence may appoint your lot. [Here follow the signatures of all the teachers.] The address was accompanied by a very handsome and valuable album inlaid with
pearl, presented to Mr. Flett as a souvenir of t* e respect in which he is held by his fellow-teachers. Mr. Todd spoke in feeling terms of the long and happy connection which had subsisted between Mr. Flett and the school teachers. During the evening a number of addresses were delivered and several hymns sung.
