By telegrun we have th-i information that a pigeon race between Rakaia and Ohristclr.iroh has taken placj, in which the winner flew the distance (35 miles) in 55 minutes. During the last Duncrocn races one of our carriers flew from the Diuitroou Racecourse to our office (nearly 3!) miles) in 25 minutes, and another |,e; formed the same journey on the second day in 30 minutes.
The Oamaru Stone Quarrying and Export Company has met with considerable favour in Dunedin. Shares are being applied for by those whose countenance and interest will be of service to the Company. The Otago Daily Times gives the names of the Duncdi'i directors as follows -. Messrs. James Mills, J. T. Maekerras (Mackerras and i-lazlett). Robert Wilson (11. Wilson and Co.), W. Guthrie (Guthrie and Larnach), A. Peyman, K. A. Lawson (architect), and J. Macgregor.
The programme for Mrs. Newsham's charitable conceit has been arranged, and consists of some of the choicest selections from the works of Beethoven, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, &\ The instrumental strength will be violin, viola, violincello, piano*? and harmonium, whilst amongst the vocalists are mentioned the names of those who are known to be possessed of the ability i i an eminent degree to interpret high-class music. We anticipate a great treat <?n Tuesday evening next, and trust that the public will patronise so unique and interesting an entertainment given for so good an object. Tickets may be had at the several places of business mentioned in the advertisement, and of members of the Hospital Committee.
The regular fortnightly meeting of the Municipal 3 Council takes place this evening, at 7.15 o'clock.

Members of No. 1 Company, 0.E.V., are notified that a battalion parade, will take place to-morrow (Friday) at 7.30 p.m., and that a special meeting will be held on the same evening.
