TTPS FOR THE DUNTROON" RACES, j As I happen to know a l'.ttle about the quahfiea- ; tions of many of the horses engaged in the Duntroon j rices, and having seen some of them at work, I may ; he pardoned if I attempt to give your a few J hints with rcg rd to the prospective results of the j events. The first race of the meeting is the Duntroon ; Produce Plate, for which there are four horses entered, j l know very little about them, but what I do know makes me rather fancy Fenella. The Waitaki County J Plate has five horses engaged in it, Mr Stephenson's i Satirist havi g been scr tched through a mishap to ! the colt. Of the others I should select Danebury as ■■ the winner, if he is intended for it, as I believe he is. Next to him I like Xantippe best, and shall select her as the second to catch the judge's eye. 1 hen comes the big event, the Waitaki Cup, with nine acceptors. Biue-a-wee is my selection, because I do not think Danebury is intended for the ra e, both these horses being in the same stable (Bob Ray's). Should, however, Danebury be seut for the race he ought undoubtedly to win it; but I fancy Ray will reserve him for something bigger, as were Danebury to win the Witaki Cu i, he wou d not be let in so lightly for other and larger prizes, which, I think, his ow ncr has an eye to winning. Next to these two I prefer Sir William's chance, and shall put him second. For the Tr..tting Match, of the half-dozen acceptors, I shall choose Air. Swanson's Tommy as tho winner, with Ranger second, and Jack thirJ. Proqnosticator.
