MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.
The regular fortnightly meeting of the Muiiicioal Council was held last evening at the Council Chambers. There were present—His Worship the Mayr, Councillor Booth, Gibbs, Headland. Mainland, Liddle, Procter, Spencc, and F milfcoii. MINUTES. ETC The minutes of the last ordinary meeting and one speci il meeting were rend and confirmed, and the outward correspondence was read aud approved. A TRAMW\Y. An application from Messrs. C Galbraith and Co/for permission to lay down a tramway opposite Section IS, Block IV . Humberstreet, was referred to the Public Works Commutee for report thereon.
DISTKTCT RAILWAYS BILL. A letter having been_ icatl from the Tow Clerk of the Thames wi h refe en-o to the Distiot Railways Rill, it was resolve*!, "That, in the opinion of tin's Coined, provision s-hould be made in the District Uailways Bill so th.it Borough Councils as well as County Councils should be consulted-is regards proposals for th -i contraction of district railways, and th t Borough rate pave s should hive, equal rowers as regards the sanctioning or veto of railway proposals with County ratepayers, and that a copy of the foregoing be sent to the members for the district-, in the General Assembly, and to the Hon. the Minister for.
