WAITAKI COUNTY COUNCIL.

SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of the Council was held at 11 a.m. to-day, at the Count} Council Chambers, for the purpose of considering the proposed alteration of the road-line in Section 25, Block IV., Oama.ru Survey District. There weiv I present—Messrs. D. Sutherland (in the ichair), Wheatley, Uuncan. Murcott, Todd, Craig, VV. Sutherland, and Johnston. Mr. Barron, Inspector of Roads, was also present. On the motion of Mr. Todd, it was resolved that the deviation of the road as recommended by the Waiareka Road Board be agreed to. I This was the wuole of the business bejfore the special meeting.

MONTHLY MEETIMG. The regular monthly meeting of the C> uncil was afterwards held, when the whole of the members mentioned above were present. MINUTES. The minutes of one special meeting and the last monthly meeting were read and confirmed.. OUTWARD CORRESPOND ENCE. A quantity of outward correspondence was read ami approved. RESIGNATION OF POUND-KEEPER. A letter was read from Mr. G. Granger, tendering his resignation as pound-keeper for the Waiareka Riding. It was agreed to accept the resignation, subject to a snout.i : s notice being given. RANGER WANTED. A letter was read from tne Clerk of the Waiareka Road Board, pointing out the necessity of some one being appointed as ranger over the County roads in the Waiareka Siding. It was resolved that, in reply, the Clerk should refer the writer to section 3 of the Public Works Act. VALUATION EXPENSES. Letters were read from Mr. Garrow. Chirk of the Waitaki, Kakanui, and Waiareka Road Boaros, asking for payment by cue County Council of t!ie half share of olio cost of making the valuation of those districts.

It was decided that the amounts should be paid. ROAD AT BLACK'S POINT.

A letter was ilso rear] from Mr. Borton, iigreein-4 on behalf of Messrs. Borton and M'Masters to the exchange of land for the road-line as shown on Mr. M'Leod's tracing. It was resolved that the offer of Messrs. Borton and M'Masters be accepted, and the Council's Solicitor was instructed to prepare the necessary conveyance. ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY. Mr. Henry Connell, Hon. Secretary of tb.3 Waifcaki County Acclimatisation Society, wrote asking the Council to pay the moneys received by that body for shooting, coursing, and fishing licenses, amounting to L 34 10s., to the Treasurer of the Society. It was resolved to retain possession of the money until definite instructions had been received from the Government. ATT3OKITY TO FORM ROAD. The Clerk was instructed to write to the Waste Lands Board asking for permission to form a road through Reserve . No. 38 in the Hampden district.

COMPENSATION WANTED. Mr. Hector M'Leod wrote asking for compesation for destruction of fencing on his property consequent upon the proposed deviation of the road through section 13, block XI., Moeraki Survey district. It was resolved to grant L 5 in satisfaction of all claims for compensation. | A CULVERT. I Permission was granted to the Waitaki Road Board to open up the main road outside the town boundary, for the purpose of putting in a culvert for the proper [drainage of the Landon Sub-division of the Waitaki Road district. DIVERSION OF CREEK. A letter was read from Mr. H. Schluter, Boundary Creek, applying for permission to divert the course of the creek running through his property at Pukeuri. It was decided that the Inspector should report upon the matter. [Left sitting.]
