MEETING OF THE COUNCIL.

A meeting of the Council of the Society was afterwards held, Mr. liorton being in the chair. A letter was read from Mr. G. S. Cooper, Under-Secretary, with reference to the Society's application for the payment to the Society of the moneys received for sporting license)* in tho district, and which is at present in the hands of tho County Council. The writer also asked for information as to the date on. which tho Waitaki County Acclimatisation Society was established. It was resolved—"That tho Secretary write in reply, informing Mr. Cooper of the date on which proceedings were first taken for the formation of the Society, and tho number of members who have paid their subscriptions for tho current year ; and, referring to the letter written by him to the County Council, in which he (the Under Secretary) intimated that tho money in question would bo paid ovor to a local Society, if suoh a Society were formed, to inform Mr. Cooper that such a Society having been so formed, respectfully submits that it is entitled to receive tho moneys in question," It was also resolved—" That tho Secretary write to tho County Council, informing that body of tho formation of this Society, and asking for payment to its Treasurer of tho sums received by the County Council for sporting licenses." This was all thi business brought forward, and a vote of thanks to the chairman having been passed, the meeting terminated,
