The Lusitania| on her 40 days 4 hours passage, front London, averaged 311* miles per 24 hours. In the action Ireland v. Captain Cap man, R.N., for false imprisonment, a verdict was given for the defendant by « majority of three-fourths of the jury. There will be an exhibition of morinoi in February. Prizes : Five gold cups. There are 85 acceptances for tho Melbourne Cup. Business continues to improve. The weather is very dry. A young man named Scully has dial from the effects of injuries received in a prize fight on Sunday.
