August 17. The yacht Secret has been sold to a Sydney gentleman for L 550. The footballists left in the Taranaki
to-day. Mr. Binnie reports Flour—Dunedin, LIS ; Christchuvch, Lls to Ll6 ; bran, Lo ; pollard, L 6 10.J; oats, 3s 8d ; maize, 3s 9d ; potatoes, L 3 to L 3 5s ; hams and bacon, 8d ; cheese, bd ; oatmeal, L2O to L2l; pearl barley, L2i. The trade complains of limited business. Mr. Buckland reports Fat cattle, 30s per 3001b. Share market—Buyers : Colonial Bank, 43s ; National Insurance, 32s ; Now Zealand Insurance, L 5. Sellers : Bank of New Zealand, L 22 ; National Bank, 72s ; South British, 81s ; Moanatairis (shares), L 9, (sellers), L 8 12s 6d ; Alburnia's have run up to L 8 10s, with buyers at that price in consequence of rich specimen finds.
