ANOTHER VESSEL MISSING. August 15. Ex-Governor Fergusson's yacht Blanche has arrived from the Islands, and therefore is not the vessel supposed to be wrecked at the North Cape. The Football Team were driven into town in a break ; a strong team oppose them. The man Durham, who sent a letter to his wife threatening suicide, has been discovered all right.

The Licensed Victuallers have passed a resolution that the meeting protests against the passing of the Local Option Bill, it being tyrannous, obnoxious, and contrary to the principles of free trade ; and that the thanks of the Association are due to Dr. Wallis for his independent action in endeavouring to act justly to both Licensed Victuallers and Good Templars. The topsail schooner Hinemoa, which left Auckland for Samoa, is missing. It is feared she has been wrecked. The hull was insured in the New Zealand o'lice for LI2OO ; the cargo in the Victoria for L7OO, and in the Batavia for LSOO. The vessel was owned by Captain Jtioss, D. H. M'Kenzie, and Captain Fairchild, and was commanded by Captain Ross.

The Trade and Labour Council have adopted a petition to Pailiament stating that many good mechanics are leaving the Colony through want of employment, and that material for railways suould be manufactured here whenever practicable. Samoa news states that the rumoured annexation to the L nited States is untrue. The Natives are lighting. Business is stagnant.
