T[IE la;\d sales. July '_M. The Iniid sales have lately boon unusually heavy. LL'2-3,000 has already been received at the Land Office this month, and there are two heavy Board days yet to come. This is exclusive of extraordinarily lanre sales of educational reserves, the proceeds of which are paid direct to the Canterbury College. The heaviest amount received in any previous month was L 92.000. At a public meeting in the Oxford District it was shown that the new railway turill' is very oppressive oil the timber trade, and it was resolved to endeavour to get it remedied.
