400 DUNEDIN MECHANICS SEEKING EMPLOYMENT AT ss. PER DA¥ - July 10. A deputation from tho working classes , waited on the Mayor to-day to urge upon him the necessity of obtaining employment for them. It stated that there were 400 mechanics in Dunedin out of work iust now, and that all were willing to accept ss. a day for work. Mr. Reeves lias telegraphed to the Government, suggestin" that a section of the Balclutha and Clinton line should be thrown open to them. The Education Board has accepted Mr. Burns' resignation. It is proposed to appoint an Inspector of Reserves, at salary of L 250, and LI j per day travelling allowance.
