INDIGNATION AT ACTION OF GOVERNMENT. June. At the last meeting of the County Council a letter was received from Mr. Whitaker- offering the control of Mining
Inspector's Department to the County, which was accepted. Some indignation is expressed at the action of the Government and the County, and a petition is m course of signature asking for a special meeting to protest against the power beinc* given to the County Council to appoint officers having jurisdiction within the borough.
