SUPREME COURT SITTINGS. July 2.
Mr. Hugh M'Neill has been appointed a member of the Harbour Board, in j.lace of Mr. Rattray, resigned. The criminal sittings of the .Supreme Court commenced this morning, before Williams. In the case of John Tenant, charged with assault with intent to commit rape, the Grand Jury found no true bill, and the accused was discharged. The following prisoners pleaded guilty, and were remanded for sentence :—Mary Carr, larceny; John Cameron, shooting
4 a cow ; Joseph Hanley, stealing from 4 dwelling-house ; John Marchoney, lion, I breaking ; Allan M'Rae, attempted t- 1 cide. The last prisoner was liberated 2 his own surety, in the sum of LSO. \Y| Ham John Craig pleaded not guilty I larceny at Oamaru. Thomas Habert»J acquitted for house-breaking, and t| CUinainen, for keeping a common gami J house, were also acquitted. ™
