AUCKLAND.
THE CRIMINAL SESSIONS.
A PRIZE FIGHT. July 2. At the Supreme Court, to-day, Judge Gillies, in his charge to the Grand Jury, said the the lightest ever known in the annals of the Court, six out of the seven cases being from the out-dis-tricts, and only one from the city. In a case where a juryman sent a medical certificate for non-attendance, the Judge said it was not sufficient, he must send some person to Court able to swear to the genuineness of the signature of the medical man. A man named Jackson, for stealing from a dwelling-house, was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment.
A prize fight for L2O a side, was interrupted by the police just as the combatants were about to begin. The cutter Dante, which left Onchunga two days ago, for Waitam, is supposed to be lost, a quantity of wreckage and candles known as a portion of her cargo having been found on the coast between Manakau and Raglan.
