AUCKLAND.

COLLISIONS IN THE HARBOUR. FATAL ACCIDENT. June 18. Two collisions have occurred in the harbour. The ferry steamer Davenport ran into the brigantine Flirt on Saturdaynight, carrying away her martingale. The Flirt's jib-boom swept the steamer's deck, carrying away her funnel, and doing other damage. The barque Victoria, coming from Newcastle, ran into the schooner Christiana, at anchor under the North Head, at 5 o'clock on Sunday morning. The schooner was much injured. An inquiry will be held. Edward Plinney, a settler at Otahuhu, was thrown from a cart on Saturday night, and sustained concussion of the spine. He died this morning. Mr. Hugh Lusk is to address the electors of Franklyn on Wednesday. The Rob Roy cutter, from Samoa, brings news to the 3rd inst. The Somoan chiefs, on their return home after their unsuccessful attempt to secure from Sir Arthur Gordon British protection, commenced negotiations with the American Consul, which resulted in the hoisting of the Stars and Stripes. It is not known whether the American Consul has been authorised by his Government.

Arrived—Spirit of the Dawn, barque, from London, 150 days out. Rob Roy, cutter, from Samoa. The steamer Wellington was off the Manukau bar yesterday morning, but owing to the westerly wind she did not cross.
