COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE.

MARKET REPORT. Evening Matt, Office, Saturday Afternoon. Wheat. —In this grain there has been a ■light reaction owing to the downward tendency of the Australian markets, and also English quotations, which, however, we believe are only temporary, and expect present prices to be fully maintained. Oats have advanced considerably, and several large parcels have changed hands during the week at quotations given below. Bakliy is still unsaleable, with little prospect of values increasing, as no buyers are in the market. Flour is without alteration, and large orders are still coming to hand, which, however, local millers are declining, being fully aagaged for the next, two months to complete present orders. Bran and Pollard are being shipped largely, and prices are fi mer. Potatoes have been in better demand, and a slight advance has bjen established. Oatmeal.—This indispensable article of Scotch diet has gone to almost famine price, but for what reason is not quite apparent, as the millers' quotations are out of all proportion to the price of oats. Prices, f.o.b , are as follow : Wheat, 6s to 6i 6d. Oats, 3s to 33 6\l. Barley, 4s, nominal. Floor, Ll7 to Ll7 10s. Bran, L 4 sa. Jallard, L 6 10s. Oatmeal, L2O. Potatoes, L2 10s. to 12 15s. TIMARU. Thiß morning's Timaru Herald reports as follows : —" Transactions in all descriptions of grain have been few in number since our last leport, and prices remain about the same. Wheat is quoted from 5s 3d to 5s lOd by the greater proportion of buyers, but wa hear of 6's having been offered by one aaarchant yesterday. Oats, 2s 3d to 2s 9d, according to quality."
