AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS.
Messrs. Fleming and Hedley report that they held a sale yesterday at White's Yards of fat and store cattle, dairy cows, etc. " There -was a small attendance, and the bidding was very languid. They quote the following as rates ob:ained : —Pen of fat cattle, 10 guineas per head all round ; cows and heifers, calved and coming to calving, L 7 to LlO ;no demand for store cattle. They also report the sale privately on account of Mr. Mathew Morton, Kakanui, of 5 cows at Liu per head ; also the pure Ayrshire bull out of Coquette by Brogden to Mr. John Robertson, Mount Pleasant, at a very satisfactory figure. Also on account of \V. Craig, Esq.', Punchbowl, 700 half-bred sheep, fat, mixed sexes, at 9s per head all round. Mr. A. H. Maude reports that he held a sale yesterday of freehold properties, dairy cows, and furniture, on account of JVIr. Charles Townsend. There was a good attendance. Section S, Block XI., Oamaru, with threeroomed lean-to thereon, was knocked down to Mr. S. Gibbs at LI 72. Sections S and 9, Block L., planted with potatoes, were, after a brisk competition, knocked down to Mr. James Liddle at L 73. Three dairy cows fetched respectively LlO, LlO 15s, and Lll. The furniture and miscellaneous effects fetched fair prices. He also reports the sale privately of a farm of 310 acres on Messrs. Gillies and Street's Awamoko estate, for the sum of L 6 10s per acre to E. Menlove, Esq. Messrs. Connell and Clowes report that they held a sale of sheepskins, hides, wool, and tallow at their new store, Tyne-street, yesterday. The attendance was limited to the trade, but the bidding was spirited. They quote :—Merino skins. Is 3d to 4s Id : do pelts, 3d to 6d ; half-bred skins, 2s 6'd to 3s Id; wool (odd lots). s\d to 7id per lb ; hides, 14s 6*d to lGs ; tallow, Hd to 2Jd per lb. DUNEDIIs 1 COMMERCIAL. The amount of revenue collected at the Custom-house, Dunedin, on Thursday, was £667 19s. 5.; gold, £24 3s. TLMARU GRAIJS" MARKET. This morning's Timo.ru Herald reports as follows:—"The grain market shows an easier tendency, in consequence, no doubt, of recent advices from Home. Prices, however, remain about the same, quotations for wheat ranging from os to 5s 9d, according to quality. Very few transactions worth noting have taken place during the week, and farmers are still holding back for higher rates."
