The report about a ship being on fire off Cape Saunnders proves to be a sense, less hoav. The smoke of the steamer Ino was magnified by some fool.
vYiiu pieaueu iNot Guilty. Sub-Inspector Smith applied for s remand, stating that the prisoner had only been arrested at 10 o'clock last night. Mr. O'Meagher intimated his willingness to agree to a remand, and asked that bail should be allowed. The Bench said that the bail would have to be of a substantial nature, seeing that [the charge involved a considerable) amount of property. The case would bo adjourned until Tuesday next, and tho accused would bo admitted to bail—himself in LIOO and two sureties of LSO each.
