MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
9 —— THIS DAY. (Before T. W. Parser, Esq., R.J.L) BREACH OF CORPORATION BYE-LAWS. Messrs. Hay and Barr were charged by Mr. Toms, Inspector of Nuisances, with having commenced additions to their buildings in Severn-street, on Section 16, Block XXV., without having first obtained permission, in accordance with the Ordinance, from the Municipal Corporation. Mr. Hislop, who appeared for the defendants, applied for an adjournment, as the case had only been placed in his hands a few moments prior to the opening of the Court. The Inspector opposed the adjournment, as it was merely applied for to enable the defendants in the meantime to make the necessary application for permission to go on with the work. After some further discussion, his Worship granted the request for an adjournment, the case to come on to-morrow. INSOXTLNG- LANGUAGE. William Hayten was charged with having used insulting and disgusting language towards Elizabeth Ruddock on the 31st March, aud complainant also asked that defendant might be bound over to keep the peace in the future. Mr. Balmer appeared for defendant. Daniel Ruddock stated that as he and his wife were walking along Yare-street on the evening of the 31st March, defendant accosted them, and after some observations made use of very disgusting language to his wife, imputing improper conduct to her. Neither witness nor his wife gave defendant any provocation, nor made use of any bad language in reply. Elizabeth Ruddock was called, and gave evidence of a similar nature to that of the last witness. For the defence defendant aud John Black were examined, and emphatically contradicted the evidence given for the complainant. His Worship'fiaid he thought on public grounds it.would be better to bind over the defendant in his own recognisance for £5, to keep the peace for two months, but ordered complainant to pay costs of Court,
