CRIMINAL SESSIONS.

Sentences were passed to-day in the following cases in the Supreme Court: — Alice Lavine, charged with stealing from a dwelling-house in Oamaru, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment with hard labour.

W. Rodgers was charged with horsestealing. Prisoner pleaded guilty. The Judge informed him that a few years ago the offence was punishable with death. Prisoner was sentenced to two years' imprisonment with hard labour, and for a second offence of stealing a saddle, he was sentenced to six months' imprisonment. Charles Brodie Cooper, for forgery, was sentenced to five years' penal servitude. William Brown, for an unmentionable offence, was sentenced to five years' penal servitude.

Walter TJlmer was sentenced to two years' imprisonment .with hard labour.
