H.A.C.B. SOCIETY.

A supper and ball under the auspices of the above Society to celebrate its fourth anniversary took place last evening at Cogvin's Assembly lloom, Thames-street. The spread, a short time before the supper commenced, was very tastily laid out, and reflected great credit on all tlioss concerned in getting it up. Especial mention must be made of the large cake standing in the centre of the table, which was surmounted by a cross made of confectioners' materials, the sides of the cake bearing the mottos of the Society, viz., "Peace and Plenty," and "Let the H.A.C.B. Society Prosper." About 40 people sat d jwn to the supper, the chair being very ably filled by Mr. C. Kearns, and the vice-chair by Mr. J. Cogvin. Those present d.ssussed tlie \imds with evident relish. Alter ttiat had been done, the usual toasts were proposed and responded to by the different- persons present, and everything passed olf smoothly, without any hitcii whatever. During the course of the evening the Chairman said that he was sorry that the Secretary of the Society was not able to attend through illness, thus preventing any statement as to the financial progress of the Society being made on this occasion. . After the tables were cleared dancing was commenced and continued with great spirit till the grey dawn of morning.
