WAIAREKA ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Waiareka Road Boa i'd was held t';is morning at tie oiHee of the Board. There were pn sent —M-ssrs. J. ltuid (Chairman), Panlin, J. T. Mjtk, Jackson. Ilaiufurth, and Young; and Mr. Oliver, District Engineer. anxL'Tiis. The minutes of the last meeting were read and counrmed, an I the outward correspondence read and approved. CLOSING OF ROAD. A letter was read from A. Willis, Under-Sccretaiy, in reference to closing road through Captain Sawoll's property in Block IV., Oamaru District. On tiie motion of Mr. Evans it was decided that the closing and opening of roads through Captain Sewell's property, as shown by plan prepared by the District Engineer, be approved. A ROAD LINE FENCE. Messrs. Connell and Clowes, as agents for Cameron and Hunter, called attention to an agreement made between Messrs. Gilchrist and Hunter and the Board as to the fencing of a road-line t';ro«gh sections 48, 49, and 50, block VIII., Awamoko, in lieu of road line between sections 45, 46, and 47. It was resolved that the road-line referred to be fenced, in accordance with the resolution of the Board, dated 28th April, 1875, and that Messrs. Gilchrist and Hunter be requested to make an offer to the Board for what sum they would erect the fence at per chain. inspector's report. The Inspector's report for the month was then read, and the Engineer instructed to inspect and report on the condition of the railway bridge at toll-gate on Main District Road. It was also resolved that the culvert reported as damaged, on new road through Gillies and Street's property, be repaired. SALE OF TOLL-HOUSE AND GATES. It was resolved that Messrs. Fleming and Hedley be instructed to sell by auction the Waiareka toll-house and gates for removal, the same to be sold in two lots. FOOTBRIDGES. The Clerk was authorised to call for tenders for footbridges over Waiareka and Big Hill Creeks. CREEK DIVERSION. It was resolved that the Engineer see Mr. Malcolm and arrange as to creek diversion across main road above Teaneraki Mill. INSTRUCTIONS. The Engineer was instructed to prepare plans, &c, of the worst portions of the road between Teaneraki Mill and the junction of Gillies and Street's road, and that the steepest sidings of the road be formed. RFSioivATION. Mr. James Martin resigned his position as Clerk to the Waiareka Road Board, and the resignation was accepted. Messrs. J. T. Evans and Meek were appointed a committee to confer with the united Board re appointing a clerk. RAILWAY GATES. Mr. Paulin called attention to the railway authorities having erected two gates across the District Road in Section 9, Block VII., Awamoko District. The Clerk was instructed to write to Mr. Arthur (Provincial Engineer) with the view of having them removed. ACCOUNTS. Accounts were passed to the amount of £262 17s. 2d., and with the usual vote of thanks to the chair, the meeting adjourned.
