The reverend gentleman i named, writing to the police, 36 itß3 that | un Tuesday lar.t two Mioris belonging- to j the "Wailnki Kaik.Lad - | THE CODY j of a, man on an island in the Waitaki. j The clothing is described as consisting of j r, pair of black trousers, black vest, and ■ white shirt, but 110 coat. The writer of : the letter also states that the Maoris led him to understand that tae body was found by them not far below where the man was reported to have been seen ALIVE A IMTW DAYS SlivOE. These are all tiic particulars to hand at the time of the present writing, but as Sergeant O'Neill despatched a trooper to t'.-e scene -of the occurrence at six o'clock this morning, we may -fairly e:;pect to be ■ very'shortly placed in possession of fuller and more definite information with regard t j this ■ MOST MYSTEUIOUS .APF.US. In the meantime we may be permitted to express our wonder that notwithstanding - tHo -search that has been made, nothing should have been seen of the unfortunate' man. There is a veil of mystery over the whole affair which everyone must earnestly wish to see cast aaide.
