WAS the actual amount of Profits made by the Government Insurance Department DURING THE FIRST FIVE YFAES of its operations. • During this period its expenses were necessarily at the maximum, and its income at the minimum. Since then the business has been, and is still, largely increasing, and the accumulated PROFITS will be DIVIDED AS BONUSES amongst the insured, thus giving them the full advantage of A PURELY MUTUAL OFFICE. A comparison of the rates of Premiums charged by the Government and by private companies (tiieii: cor responding participating scales) will show that by insuring in tlie former a present and continuous SAVING OF I ROil 15 TO 20 PER CENT, will be effected, thus practically giving to each policy-holder an IMMEDIATE CASH BONUS on every occasion of paying his premium ; while he is also entitled to share in the GENERAL DIVISION OF PROFITS, to take place every five years.
