LEASES OF RUNS.

The "Waste Lands Board had under consideration yesterday the question as to how to deal with four runs, the leases of which expire early next year. The Chief Surveyor reported that the country comprised in the runs was very rough, and quite unfit for agricultural settlement, and proposed that the four runs should be cut up into five, for the purpose of re-leas-ing.— Mr. Gretn dissented from this view, pointing out that the land being very close to the const settlements, and some of it within a few miles of Duncdin, was certain to be in good demand, and would realise more than £1 an acre. No decision was arrived at.
