HOSPITAL COMMITTEE.

The usual monthly meeting of the above Committee was held in Mr. Church's office. Present: Messrs. Shrimski (in the chair), Steward, Brown, Dunn, Headland, Mainland, Rowland, Clowes, Lemon, Hislop, and Church (secretary). A telegram from Hon. C. 0. Bowcn was read as follows: —"Send in your return to Treasurer at Dunedin, as usual, for period ending 31st December. After that apply to Treasury here. Subsidy of £1 for £1 will be continued till end of present financial year." With regard to an application from Mr. Hesketh for the admittance of a newlyarrived immigrant into the Hospital, it was resolved, on the motion of Mr. Steward, seconded by Mr. Brown, " That the Secretary be directed to reply to the letter of Mr. Hesketh, stating that if he, as barrack-master, has at any time any persons in his charge who require the aid of the Hospital, and will lay each case as it may arise before the Secretary, it will be immediately submitted and dealt with on its merits. In the case referred to, the Committee have no particulars to enable them to judge." The following report from the House Committee was read : " Oamani, Jan. 16, 1877. "To the Chairman Oamaru Hospital Committee. " Sir, —We have the honor to report that we have visited tlie Hospital during the month, and are able to report that everything is in a satisfactory state. There are now twelve patients under treatment, and three have been discharged during the month. " The grass has been cut and stacked, notice boards, re trespassing, put up, and the benches ordered for the use of patients outside the building are in the hands of Mr. Bain, and will be ready shortly. We would advise that tlie kitchen be ceiled with scrim and paper. " We have passed for payment accounts amounting to £45 Is. lid., as per memo, attached. " We have, &c., "E. Rowland, " T. Arthur Clowes, "T. H. Brown." On the motion of Mr. Steward, seconded by Mr. Mainland, it was resolved, "That the report be received, and that the suggestion, as to ceiling for the kitchen, be carried out, except as regards the manner, the joists to be battened instead of scrimmed and papex-ed and that the thanks of the Committee be recorded to the Visiting Committee for their services." The monthly statement of the Treasurer was read and received, the sum of £5 travelling expenses voted to Sir. Moore, and a number of accounts passed for payment. Tlie report for the annual meeting on the 23rd inst was read, and, after amendment, adopted. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. M'Leau, for the way he had fulfilled the office of Treasurer during tlie year. A letter was also ordered to be written to Mr. G. M'Lean, thfltilfing him for his Christmas present. The usual compliment to the Chairman terminated the proceedings.
