A 'TISTIC HOUSEMAID.
$ Yesterday a darkey came into our office and slowly and deliberately asked us to give him a berth as cook. We informed him that wo did not keep up an establishment, and therefore, did not want one. He, noti.ing daunted, pniled out a copy of the Evening Mail, and showed uc t : e following m irked advertisement : "Wanted, a good cook, or c ok and housemaid. Apply at the o nee of this paii jr." We in to mud him thai the advertiser evidently wishxl for a female, a:the p.i'oon ivcplred was to be not oily ;. ook, bufc a c.jok and hous.miid. Nut in tiie least taken a-bsvek, he said, "Well, sail, if there's one tiling I kin du, it's cojk ; but if you want to see ma fill a place 'tistically, you jest make a housemaid ob me." We assured him that we would tell the party who required the domestic, and let him know the result. He th-n life, saying, " Yls, I tink 'tlstic kouseniaiding jest about suits dis child."
