[from our own correspondent.] ♦ . Dunedin, Thursday. THE CONVENTION. The first resolution was carried with but few dissentients, who included Messrs. Reid and Hislop. For the second, the following, by Mr. Gillies, was carried : " That a committee of three be appointed to draft a petition to Her Majesty, setting forth the limited and unequal character of t ie present repres ntation of the people, and asking that the rights of the Province of Otago conferred on her by the Constitution Act may be preserved, if not attainable otherwise, by proclaiming her a separate and independent Colony." To-day, resolutions 3 and 4 were adopted nem. con Others are sure to be so, and it is expected the Convention will conclude to-night. "Waieola, Thursday. THE VOLUNTEER REVIEW. Five hundred Volunteers attended the Review at Waihola to-day. In the dismounting competition between the Christchurch and Dunedin Artilleries, Dunedin won by 33| sees., the time being—Dunedin, 3 min.; Christchurch, 3 min. 38| sees.
