Dunedin, Thursday. INFLUENCING THE JURY. During the hearing of the case Regii v. Burke and Waters, for larceny at tl Supreme Court, yesterday, very point reference was made by the Crown Pra cutor and Judge, to the inconsistency verdicts with the evidence in many cat set down for trial at this Session. morning Mr. Cook (prisoners' counsel complained of the remarks of yesterdaj which he asserted influenced the Jutyi coming to the decision they did in tin case. Mr. Haggitt replied, that shbi occasion require it, he would repeat whi he had said. The Judge said he did no believe the Jury were influenced Crown Prosecutor's fin verdict was certainly consistent with tit evidence.—Burke was sentencHf to nira months, and Waters to six monffi impn sonment.
