OTEPOPO ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of this Board was held on Friday, September 29, 1876. All the members were present, and Mr. Oliver (Enginee l *). Mr. Russell proposed, and Mr. Henderson seconded, " That the minutes of the last meeting be adopted as read." The outward correspondence was read and approved.
Messrs. Robert Morrison and A. C. Watt objected to the valuation put on their respective properties. In both cases the objections were disallowed. Mr. Gale complained of water being dammed back on his land, near Mrs." Aitchinson's.
Mr. Henderson moved, and Mr. .Ross seconded, " That Messrs. Anderson, Darroch, and Russell report on the matter at the next meeting." f Mr. Sim applied for the road through Blocks VII. and VIII. to be formed.
On the motion of Mr. Russell," seconded by Mr. Darroch, the application was .'not entertained. The Clerk was instructed to write to the Provincial Under-Secretary for the "deeds of conveyance, for the proposed Main District Road in Sydney, in order that the signatures of the proprietors may be obtained.
The following tenders for Contracts 46 and 46a were opened: For 46, Mr. M'Grath, £l9O 10s. ; Hugh Wallace, £l7O Is. Bd.; R. Simmers, £185165. o|d.; W. P. Milsom, £IBB 14s. 6d. ; Alexander Ross, £l7O 7s. lOd. ; Robert Hastings, £174 10s. Contract 46a : Robert Hastings, £62 ss. ; Alex. Ross, £64 14s. 3d.; W. P. Milsom, £7O 133. ; Robt. Simmers, £79 2s. 2d. ; Hugh Wallace, £66 3s. 7d. Mr. M'Donald moved, " That the tender of H. Wallace for Contract 46 be accepted." Seconded by Mr. Henderson, and carried.
Mr. Dakroch moved, and Mr. Russell seconded, "That the tender of R. Hastings for Contract 46a be accepted. Mr. Morton moved as -an amendment, " That no tender be accepted." Seconded by Mr. Newlands. On being put to the meeting, three voted for the amendment, and five for the motion, which was accordingly carried. On the motion of Mr. M'Donald, seconded by Mr. Henderson, the general and special rates as proposed at last meet ing were confirmed. The Chelsea members reported that they had inspected the road lines complained of by Mr. James Falconer, and recommended-that a surface man be appointed. The report to. They also.*. reported :.th"at., Mr. .Moodj declines to sell the road line'into the Kakanui South. * '•"
Several accounts were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
