LEFT HIS NAME OUT.
t TO THE EDITOR OF THE EVENING MAIL Sir, —You ..will oblige me by correctii a mis-stateinent which appeared in tl evening's number of your paper. In yoi report of the proceedings which to place on the same date—viz., Septembt 12th —it i 3 stated by you " A medical ce tificate was handed in from Dr. De Lai tour, stating that the woman was unab! to appear." It is quite correct that a cei tificate of the above-mentioned nature wa handed in, but instead of being signed b Dr. De Lautour, your very humble sei vant, the writer of this letter, signed tl certificate which was presented. My cla reason for asking you to make the jceqfei site alteration, is that several persons is terested in the case of the unfortunai woman Isabella Campbell," asked me thi morning if the case were to be brougl forward, my reply being, that I i;ad reaai to think not, as I had given in a certifical to the effect that Isabella Campbell m not in a fit state of health to appear i Court. It appears almost unnecessary fo me to point out to a gentleman of yon great discernment and erudition that should the statement to which I hav made reference, remain uncorrected, itii quite possible that my morning "enquire might infer that I had not given utterancf to the truth.—l am, &c, J. J. Dale. Oamaru, Sept. 12.
