MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
THIS DAY. [Before T. W. Parker, Esq., R.M.] THE fHOKeiSOIi CASE. Jolin Morrison, on remand, was charged with burglariously entering the Oamaru Hospital, between the hours of nine p.m. on the Bth, and six a.m. on the 9th. inst., by one of the windows, and with having stolen a blanket, valued at £1 25., the property of the Hospital. The prisoner was also charged with having, on the 10th of August, unlawfulfy and maliciously thrown kerosene oil on the person of one Isabella Campbell, alias Johnson, with intent to maim and disfigure her. . Sub-Inspector M'Cluskey • asked his Worship to grant a remand, as he was at present unable to go on with the case, owing to the state of Campbell's health. She- had suffered a relapse through being exposed to the air on the night she was taken from tie Hospital. A medical certificate was handed m from Dr. De Lautour, stating that the woman was unable to appear. Mr. O'Meagher, who appeared for the prisoner, said he should offer no objection to a remand. Sub-Inspector M'Cluskey stated t 1 " at Campbell was in such a critical state at the present trre that he scarcely thought s e would recover. T e prisoner was accordingly remanded till Thursday.
