In a book called " Courtship, Love, and Matrimony," published in 1660, there this clause concerning, the privileges o ; women in leap year: —"Albeit is r.otVt; become a part of the common lawe, in re: gard to social relations of life, that, &s every bissextile .year Joth return, ladyes have the sole priviledge, during the time it continuet'n, of making love vlnto the men, which they doe, either by words or lookes, as to them it seeraeth prefer; and moreover, no man will be entitled to the benefit of clergy who doth in anywise .treat her proposal with slight o}" epil* tumely." Papers of pins are now being sold in & most convenient funn, viz., rolled round, so that the heads are upwards, thus forming a ready-made pin-cushion, with the pins arranged in geometrical precision.
