Alfred Grave, remanded on the above charge, was again brought up, and on the certificate of Dr. "Wait, Visiting Surgeon to the Gaol, the Bench ordered his discharge. SLY GROG SELLING. Michael Piper, on the above charge, whose case was investigated on Saturday last, was fined in the sum of L2O, with costs—L3 Bs.

IJItEACH OF ORDINANCE.

Thomas Procter was charged, on the information of tlie Inspector of Nuisances, that he did, on the lGth August last, unlawfully permit a certain building to be erected on liis property, part of [section 6, block 111., Town of Oamaru, without having previously lodged with the Town Clerk, for the inspection of the Municipal Council, the plans, together with specifications of the building so erected, contrary to the statute therein made and provided. Mr. Balmer appeared for the Corporation. _ .

The defendant stated that the additions complained of, existed in tlie rear of his property in Tjaie-street, and that had he been aware that an official permission was required, he would have been glad to procure the necessary authority. Several other buildings of a similar character existed throughout the town, and he was not aware that he had infringed the regulations. Mr. Balmer having addressed the Court, the defendant was fined 40s.
