Wellington, Thursday SIR GEORGE GREY'S SEPARATION RESOLUTIONS.
The division on Sir George Grey's Sepj. ration Resolutions was taken at half-t>ast eleven last night. For Separation there voted—ayes, 32 ; noes, 46. The Resold tions were taken seriatim, and it unanimously resolved that the unity 0 f the Colony should be maintained; that the seat of Local Government for the North Island should be at Auckland, and for the South at Christchurch. [per press agency.] Upon the House resuming last night Mr. WAKEFIELD supported the % solutions in a long and eloquent speech and in denunciating the corruption of the Government, but chiefly that of the Pre, mier and the Native Minister. He excepted Messrs. Atkinson and Bowen. Sir GEORGE GREY replied, and moved the first Resolution. This was objected to, and after some discussion, the Speaker-was appealed to who ruled that the Resolutions; 'could he put separately. .4-. siy '■■ -'-• -.....'■'. E. Read, Richardson, Rollsston, Rowe, Russell, Seymour, Sharp (teller), Stafford, Stevens, Tewiti, Teschemaker, Tribe, Vogel, Williams, Woolcock ; ayes, 31, consisting of Messrs, Brown, J. C. (teller), Burns, De Latom', Dignan, Fisher, Grey> Hamlin, Hislop, Hodgkinson, Joyce, Lumßden, Lusk, Macandrew, Macfarlane, Murray, Nahe, O'Rorke, Rees, D. Reid, Seaton, Sheelian, Shrimski, Stout (teller), Swanson, Takamona, Thompson, Tole, Tonics Wakefield, Wason, Whitaker, and R. G, Wood.
The fourth resolution was negatived bj 46 to 32 —Sir Robert Douglas voting for, and D. Reid being absent.
The sixth and seventh resolutions were negatived on the voices. The House divided on the eighth—that the Seat of Government remain at Wellington. Resolution rejected by 44 to 30. The House adjourned about midnight,
