The "Bruce Herald" states that Mr. Maitland will be appointed Ghief Commissioner of Waste Lands Boards. COAST PILOT. The Government are sending down Captain Bendall, as coast pilot, on the R.M.S.S. City of New York., MR. GORDON'S REPORT., Mr. Gordon's report "on an Increased Water Supply, recommends that two branches of the Waitaki be taken into the reservoir, which would supply a population of 45,000 persons. V;-'. CHORAL SOCIETY. / The annual meeting of the Choral Society last night, showed the Society to be in a very unsatisfactory condition. A sub-committee, appointed at tlie previous meeting, suggested several alterations in the basis and constitution of the .Society, the principal of whiehAwas that the Society be dissolved and constituted afresh. A motion to this effect} Amoved by Archdeacon Edwards, was withdrawn, and it was resolved to makevaiiother attempt at improving the Society.
