The subjoined handbill, -which was recently circulated in Preston, shows that they are " getting on " in that country in the art of turning an' honest penny by appeals to the morbid instincts of humanity : —"Robert Taylor, the tramp, and the suspected murderer of poor Emily Holland, of Blackburn, will be on view at the Com Exchange Assembly Rooms, Preston, from two o'clock to half-past nine p.m. this day, Wednesday, April 26. Taylor will appear in the clothes he was apprehended in. Go and sec the innocent man who probably owes his escape from a critical position to the brute instinct which pnt to shame the sagacity of the police. The proceeds, after paying expenses* will be given to the parents of Emily Holland. Admission, threepence." The notion of exhibiting Taylor in " the clothes lie was apprehended in" is admirable. The only tilings wanting to the completeness of the exhibition seem to be the remains of the murdered child. No doubt we shall get to this in time, especially when the parents of victims, stimulated by the example of Emily Holland's, begin to understand how good a thing may be made out of a crime of this kind.
