MR. AND MRS. BYERS' ENTERTAINMENT.
Mr. and Mrs. Byers gave their second entertainment at the Masonic Hall, last evening, assisted in the latter portion of the programme by the Amateur Dramatic Club. The first item was the comedy of the "Rough Diamond," in which Mr. Byers appeared in the parts of Sir William Evergreen and Joe respectively, and Mrs. Byers as Margery. The dagger scene from "Macbeth" was well played, and both Mr. and Mrs. Byers are to be complimented for their acting. The second part of the entertainment commenced with a song by Mrs. Kinnear, " Down by the Sea," and on being encored she substituted " Strangers Yet." The performance was brought to a close with that excellent comedy "On his Last Legs." Mr. Byers as O'Callaghan, and Mrs. Byers as Mrs. Montague, gave great satisfaction in their respective parts, while the amateurs were no less successful in the characters entrusted to their charge. Mr. Hickey's representation of Pavers, Sen., was capital, and he played the part very creditably. Mr. Corliss as Chaiies Pavers made a decided hit, and came in for a fair share of applause. Mrs. Kinnear's Julia was also well represented, and played in a careful manner, and the same may be said of Mr. A. Procter's Dr. Banks.
This evening, Mr. and Mrs. Byers will appear in scenes from " Hamlet," "Othello," the comedy "A Kiss in the Dark," and " On his Last Legs." In the latter comedy they will be assisted, as they were last night, by tlie Amateur Dramatic Club.
