[per press agency.] ♦ Auckland, July 6. DEATH OF AN OLD JOURNALIST. Mr. W. C. Wilson, proprietor of the "New Zealand Herald," died last night, aged sixty-six. New Plymouth, Thursday. J. G. S. GRANT AGAIN. The "Taranaki Herald" publishes another of J. G. S. Grant's letters, in which he says the Government and its agents are trying to damage his fair fame and credit. He says Dunedin is literally swarming with fallen women, there being not less than five hundred there. Christchurch, Thursday. THE CRIMINAL SESSIONS. The Supreme Court _was occupied twelve hours yesterday with the trial of William Townsend, for manslaughter in a midwifery case, and a verdict of "Guilty" was returned. The prisoner was sentenced to six months' imprisonment, without hard labour.
