A DENIAL.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE EVENING MAIL Sir, —I notice in your issue of Friday Lu that Mr. Grave stated to the Council on tt previous evening that his temporary buildin adjoining Mr. Brown's stone shop, in Thames street, had no prejudicial effect as regarde insurance that the Insurance Office hi agreed to take the insurance on Mr. Brown' at the same rate as other buildings, as further, that I had agreed to take the risk and Mr. Brown had informed him that till temporary building was no injury to hi business. I cannot let these statements pass without contradiction. The " temporary building' has a prejudicial effect as regards » surance. It is not I alone, but seven insurance agents that are interested 8 Mr. Brown's stock, &c., anil hone of us ait willing to take the responsibility of insuriig at the usual rates, unless the Dunedin offica allow us to do so, and this is a question stiJ pending. Mr. Grave, therefore, is notjustt tied in publicly stating that I hap taken tb risk at the same rate as other buildings-" I am, &c, T. Arthur Clowes. *
