SINGULAR ACCIDENT.

The " Home News " says : —" On February 19 n< singular ciccidcut occurred. in the Haymarket. Mrs. George St. Quintin, of C he-sham-place, had alighted from lier brougham at tlie Civil Service Stores, and her footman remained in attendance "while, the coachman drove the brougham, drawn by a high-spirited animal, up c.nd down the Haymarkefc. When near Oockspur-strest, and going northward, the liorse suddenly shied and bolted, and tho coachman losing all command, the affrighted animal galloped up the street, and when opposite the Hay market Theatre dashed oil the pavement, and literally jumped through the plateglass shop-front of Messrs. Dui'ant ami l'attesoii, tailors, where it remained fixed with the wreck of the brougham 011 the pavement. A number of passers-by at the moment had hairbreadth escapes from injury, and great excitement was occasioned by the position of the horse, which, seriously wounded and bleeding profusely from contact with the plate-glass, was extricated with much difficulty, and after some time, taken away by a cattle conveyance to Mr. St. Quintin's stables, near Sloane-square. Tlie coachman had a miraculous escape from serious injury, and Mr. Patteson, who at the moment the accident happened was engaged in his shop with, some customers, has suffered severely from the shock. "
