AN INSPECTOR OF PRISONS, jlie " Times " asserts that the Government has sent Koine for an Inspector General of Prisons, and condemns them for overlooking the claims of Colonial officials. CLEARED. The Oaniaru has cleared for London, with a cargo valued at £51,000. A STABBING CASE, At Mosgiel, after the races, William Hay, Hugh Maekay, and Andrew Tunston, while drinking, quarrelled, when the former two stabbed Tiuiston with a knife. The wounds are slight. The men are arrested. A PAID FIRE BRIGADE; It is intented to move in the City Council for the establishment of a paid fire brigade.
