J ANSEN AND PHILLIPS IN . GOOD FORM (From "N.Z. ' Truth's" Dunedin Rep.) AFTER Duthie's ."and Guy's brilliant ** display the' previous week against Deaker and Pollock, it was expected that they would gain seoond place on the Association's ladder when they meet Jensen and Phillips. The latter pair, however, were right on their game, and fully deserved their win of two sets to one. Although a high wind interfered with the play, Jensen and Phillips both showed excellent control, timing their shots well. ■ The surprise of Saturday's A grade matches was the defeat of the Otago doubles champions, McDougall and Black by Cox and Boddy. Both Cox and Boddy played excellent tennis. Boddy was smashing brilliantly with plenty of pace and angle, while many, of Cox's ang^e volleys left the Roslyn pair standing. , A closely contested match was seen m the singles between Boddy and McDougall, the final score being. 6 T 5, 5-6; 6-5 m Boddy's favor. The score fairly represents the difference between them, on the day Boddy being Just that small amount better than his opponents
