MIXED DAY
•••■- ■ ~ \ Ken Will Have 'Em Scratching JOGGED HOME I^EN. DUNCAN'S .horses are winning so consistently these days that he will have his father.^Tom, and his uncle, Bill, scratching to keep with him: At" Feiiding on Saturday, Ken. had a mixed day. He" started three horses, 1 Won with two^ while the other came down m the straight, and goodness knows how he did not bring down half of those m his
wake. "Dpc." Knapp trains for Ken,, t and .the .first one .: he. produced was Otari m. the Hurdles.- His flat form was' good enough to make the crowd put their heads, down, and after *being nicely p 1 a c c d' over the last half it was only a jog from the last fence home.
The next rep. was Acco, which had won a division' of the Maiden at Levin the previous week; He was not disgracing himself m the hack six when he hit the ground m the path of the majority of the field. It looked terribly bad, but by some miraculous means they ■ all got past the horse and the kid , without killing either. : Acco came back to the birdcage looking .yery sad and sorry, and he had enough skin 'kicked off him to make a pair of boxing gloves. Whereas Ken. started the day winning with a favorite, he .finished by taking the last with a rank outsider. His recent purchase, Llandudno, which was bought to' be moulded into a hunter, made a job of a .field that contained at least one cherry-ripe case, and another, whose rider was very little use. . .
