Revealing Figures
TYRES are a very important item m United Kingdom exports. The British Trade Review for 1930 shows that there were 1,282,622 outer covers exported during 1929, of a total value. of £3,046,416. In addition there were 1,090,484 inner tubes, valued at £403,---011, and 28,430 solid tyres valued at £153,502, making a total export value for outer covers, tubes and solid tyres of £3,602,929. It is a remarkable fact, m comparing these figures, that while- the value of inner tubes and solid tyres exported has fallen to a considerable extent during the last few years, the value of outer covers has increased from £1,079,799 m 1922 to £3,046,416 m 1929. The improved processes with the consequent increase m the life of the inner tube may be responsible to some degree for the position revealed by the figures.
