y T^ISCUSSING the amount of sick and general leave- granted to teachers throughout the Dominion, it was said at, 'a 'meeting of the Canterbury Education Board recently that the cost to the country was considerable, ;,and the suggestion was offered that the curricula were being overloaded more j and more every year. It is said that most of the teachers who obtain 'sick i leave suffer from nerve troubles. It is' obvious that children cannot be receiving the best possible education if the teachers are worried and nervous. The whole question is onei which wants thorough investigation, with a, view to securing the maximum of efficiency at the minimum coat to the country.
