DECAUSE of the spell m the pennant *J competitions, several clubs - have taken the opportunity to get some of their champion events under way. r St. Albans played a couple of fink games, one of which was keenly ; and stubbornly contested. Queree. if anything, played above his form, and with the help of his team, just managed with his last bowl on the last head to. notch a win from Dv Feu. With five up on the eighteenth head, the game looked pretty good for Dv Feu, but Queree replied with two each on the remaining three heads and notched a very creditable win by one point. On the Edgeware green m champion rink games. Keen beat Beanland and Leggatt beat Jones. Sumner has made great progress with its champion events and many other clubs could emulate them with advantage. In the singles, the veteran, Bill Hampton, beat Ernie Johnson, and Markin accounted for Tom Chambers. Tom need not be worried about it, because Jim Markin when on the job, Is the finest lead In Canterbury 'and takes a lot of heading at any time. Williams accounted for the genial Tom Newburgh, and Frank Edwards beat Wilson.
