Spring Cleaning
JSEDROOMS should be turned out on a fine day^so that bedding can be properly aired. , Carpets need sweeping on both sides/after they are beaten. Drain-pipes from baths, sinks, and lavatories should be well flushed with grease-solvent disinfectant. Examine all picture-cords for signs of wear. , Sash-cords, too. Pictures should be' thoroughly dusted at the back, and the paper backing renewed if necessary. . Ivory keys may be cleaned with paste of whitening and methylated spirits. Polish with a dry duster. Whitening, . nioisteried with cold water, is the .best cleanser for white paint. Use instead of soap. Keys and their key-holes should.be lubricated with an oily feather. Moths dislike ammonia; use it when wiping out chest of drawers and wardrobes. : Tea leaves should not be used on rugs or carpets until they have been rinsed m clean water, or they may stain badly; Jumble sales should be remembered, as you turn out. They will find white elephants useful.
