Boys Out Hawera In Cup Final ' (From "N.Z. Truth's" Taranaki Rep.) THIS year Old Boys made good their promise of the past few seasons by sustaining their brilliancy to the close of ♦he Shield competition and emerged triumphant with the provincial championship firmly m their grasp. Winning the northern division by. a point .margin over Stratford, they set the 'seal, on their fame by trouncing Hawera, the southern winners, at Stratford to the tune of 15 points. to nil m the provincial final. It was a clear-cut victory, too, compns,Llng thfee tries, one converted, and a Vpotted goal. It was /anticipated that it would be a duel between the speedy ahd clever Old Boys backs and the determined and rugged Hawera forwards, and so it proved. , '■■'"' For the first.twenty minutps the Hawera rack looked like dominating the position, i,nt thereafter Old Boys were able to bold them and give their backs a chance to do the trick. .'-• They threw the ball about m dazzling fashion.
